“Dance Teacher from Dubai Wins the Title of Nach Baliye 7 UAE Challenge “

MAD “Mad about Dance” is a Dance Institute based in Dubai, founded by Mahima Mehta in 2014, this is the facility where Anup Bhardwaj, Winner of Nach Baliye 7 UAE Challenge teaches at, he started dancing in school days and further developed his Dance skills with a Degree in Chhau Dance, a genre of Indian tribal martial dance which is popular in the Indian states of Orissa, Jharkhand and West Bengal an Indian Classical. He also went to IFBC – Imperial Fernando Ballet Company and has trained in Jazz & Contemporary form as well. He has been working in Dubai as a Dance teacher since 2012 and has started working with MAD since its establishment in December 2014. In the first of week June, Anup flew down to Mumbai, India to perform on an international Dance Stage.

Not one but two Dance teachers participated in the Nach Baliye UAE challenge, which took place in Dubai, UAE on the 21st of May 2015; where Anup Bhardwaj won the title and Sarthak Mahendru won the Best Chemistry on Stage. As a trainer Sarthak has taught many kids and adults, some of his students have gone forward and won awards as well; he himself has extensive experience in Dance and also has performed in numerous dance shows and competitions at National level and also Indian Television.

Sarthak Mahendru says, “Even though I didn’t win the main title; it felt great to have the opportunity to perform on a large stage in front of a live audience. This environment gives us a chance to grow and gain new experiences and have new goals. Having the support of my Boss and the MAD team really made this an enriching experience.”

Both employees were encouraged and supported by their Boss Mahima to take on the challenge, Mahima Mehta – Founder of MAD explains; “As an employer and an entrepreneur, I understand that growth is vital. 7th Grandma’s Recipe Contest was successfully hosted in the Award winning fine dining restaurant; Mumtaz Mahal Indian Specialty Restaurant; has been successfully running in the region for over 10 years and holds the title of “Best Fine Dining Restaurant” in Middle East & North Africa as well as a winner of several titles by “What’s On Awards”.

With over 70 recipes entered and only 8 shortlisted Finalists; this event reached new heights; when this year saw the contest’s first ever male chef confirmed as a finalist; Mr. Asif Shahzad Siddiqi was the first male finalist in 7years history of this contest. This year’s contest also saw a rise in teenagers entering the contest and had Ms. Simran Bodha as a finalist at the age of 17yrs; she was one of the youngest competitors today.

All the eight Finalists worked hard in the Hotel Kitchen and were graded on, Cooking skills, innovativeness of their recipe; taste and creativity on presentation.

The Award for the Best Grandma’s Recipe Competition went to Ms. Lubna Asif’s dish of “Muthi Kabab” – which in English translates to “Fist Kebabs”; like the name suggests; it had all the right ingredients to make it one of the most innovative and delicious recipes that the jugdes got to savour. Second place was held by Ms. Faheema Yasmeen with her dish of “Shahi Kahazana” which translates to “Royal Treasures” and 3rd place was held by Ms. Zaitoon Hameed with her dish of “Anagaray Jhinga Yakhni with Pomegranate Raita” which translates to “Fiery Prawns and Pomegranate Yogurt”.

Ritu Chaturvedi is a food blogger and food stylist.  She started her blog,” Fuss Free Cooking” in Jan. 2013 as a place to share her passion for good food and food styling. The journey of her creative cooking started when she moved to Dubai in year 1998, since then she participated in several cooking challenges and won more than a dozen awards.

She was the winner of Wonder Cook by Tele Life, Organic cooking Competition by Down to earth, Grand ma cooking Competition of Arabian Courtyard, Supah Chef by Marco Polo etc.

Recently she had won first prize for Lurpak Cooking Challenge organised by BBC Good foodMiddle East Dubai.

She is contributing her recipes in the Kitchen Classic Column of WKND magazine of Khaleej Times since 2012 and several other publication like Ahlan Gourmet, Retail People by MECSC &  Good House Keeping Middle east Etc.

Ritu is working as an Art teacher with disabled Children of Rashid Centre of Dubai and recently she did a live cooking show with her students at Show Kitchen,Kitab, Abu Dhabi in Literature Fest.

She writes reviews for tried and tested cooking appliances and products and food styling for food commercials.

Art Students display their best at the Annual Students Exhibition – Gallery 76

Dubai International Art Centre proudly presents its annual students Exhibition at Gallery 76

The exhibition is an annual event where highly imaginative and talented students attending classes at DIAC display their work. Each student has different capabilities and skills that we will be showcasing after all the hard work and effort they have put into their treasured pieces. The outcome for this exhibition will be a fantastic array of colourful works and various themes combining ideas such as figures, landscapes, abstract formations, fantasy-like elements and more, there is no limit to the imagination where art is concerned. Works of art will be ranging from paintings and Photographs to mixed media assemblage and sculpture – all created by the current Dubai International Art Centre’s students.

This exhibition gives students the chance to display their works, share their ideas and gain confidence in knowing that their work is important and worthy of displaying.

The exhibition has started from Tuesday 2nd June to Tue 16th June 2015 at Gallery 76.

The opening reception and prize giving ceremony will be held on Saturday, 6th June at 6:30pm.

Gallery hours are Saturday through Wednesday, 9am. to 9pm. and Thursdays, 9am. to 4pm.
