Against the tides 2016 – Opens to the Public till the 8th of September at the Cartoon Art Gallery


Diversity is the theme for “Against the tides 2016” to be held from 1st till 8th of September at Cartoon Art Gallery

Woman2Woman inaugurated the 6th edition of “Against the tides- 2016” at Cartoon Art Gallery on Thursday 1st of September. This year’s theme is “Diversity”, welcoming a conversation on tolerance, acceptance and peace through art.


The Art show saw an overwhelming footfall at the opening night; some of the guests were pleasantly surprised with the diverse artworks represented and the multicultural participation of Artists.

The UAE based Artists include, Sree Lakshmi, Sarrah Tambawala, Pari Sagar, Eizabeth Bruce, Samar Kamel, Sandhya Rajan, Batool Jafri, Nissa Riyas, Dima Al Malakeh, Jan D’sa, Taline Balian, Romy Ravindran, Parul Parasramka, Shiba Khan, Shytal Gusani, Rashida Fakhri, Reena Dhiman, Dagmar Braendle, Minisha Bhardwaj, Gihan Fawzy, Gwyneth Rasquinha, Noopur Ahuja, Ria Sharma, Veena Devagiri, Humaira Hassan, Afshan Quraishi, Bushra Malik, Mrinmay Sebastian and Divya Suratkal are amongst the 30 exhibiting Artists. These artists are from; Austria, Egypt, India, Canada, Lebanon, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Scotland, Switzerland and Syria all uniting to represent what diversity means to them, each artwork acts as a journal of the Artists expressions about embracing diversity and displaying tolerance adding an artistic perspective to our current reality at “Against the tides 2016” that will take place from the 1st till the 8th of September, it is Open to Public at the Cartoon Art Gallery in Al Qouz, Dubai, UAE.


The event opened with a speech by the Pull Up Project, which is an organization that promotes tolerance and acceptance using sports, fitness & discipline. One of the main objectives is to create an anti bullying environment for kids and teach them about teamwork.


Visitors than enjoyed a live dance performance, choreographed by Mad About Dance Institute showcasing a variety of dance disciplines, including classical, jazz contemporary, hip hop to a roaring crowd.


The exhibition runs till the 8th of September at Cartoon Art Gallery in Dubai; representing 60 Art works depicting Unity, Peace, Love, Tolerance and Diversity; this show is be open to public.
